J.D Mangrum
Lead Pastor
JD and Natalie Mangrum moved to Charlestown at the end of 2016 along with their two sons — Noah and Owen. Before relocating to New England to start Christ Church Charlestown, they started Origins Church in downtown Greenville, South Carolina. The Mangrums are proud residents of Charlestown and are involved at their sons’ school, have helped coach their sons’ sports teams, and seek to be active members of the community wherever possible. During their first year in Charlestown, JD has served with Charles River Church in Roslindale to learn the community and receive training from pastors from Boston. The Mangrums love drinking coffee, walking the neighborhood, spending time at the parks, and laughing and sharing meals with friends and neighbors in Charlestown.
Kayla Stephens
Kids & Community Outreach Director
Kayla Stephens relocated to Charlestown in early 2019 to serve with Christ Kids and Community Engagement. She has a heart for serving children and families in Charlestown and showing them the love of Christ. Kayla loves going to concerts, trying new restaurants, binge watching TV, traveling, eating croissants, and having game nights with friends. In addition to serving at Christ Church, Kayla works part-time as a pediatric nurse taking care of little ones from newborns to teenagers.
Stephen Um
Executive Director
Dr. Stephen Um and his wife Kathleen have lived and served in Boston for more than two decades. He began serving on staff at Christ Church in 2022 in addition to serving as well with Send Boston as a preaching and theology mentor to our church planters. The Ums love Korean barbecue, hosting people, University of Michigan football, and impacting a new generation of leaders in our church and city.
Juliana Jordan
Community Group Director
Juliana calls Charlestown home and has a heart for people in our neighborhood, city, and beyond to experience the love of Jesus through life together in community. She enjoys partnering with the people of Christ Church Charlestown to provide opportunities to learn, grow, share in burdens and celebrations alike, and experience belonging. Other favorites include drinking iced coffee, working at New England Conservatory of Music, cooking at home, hiking in New Hampshire, singing in the living room, experiencing the arts, and picnics at the Monument.
Nic McGehee
Love Christ Pastor :: Worship Director :: Elder
Nic and Nikki moved to Charlestown in mid 2020. He is passionate about teaching the truth of scripture, the art of expression, and the Christian worldview through song. Before relocating to Charlestown, Nic served as the director of song-worship at Cross Point Baptist Church in Perry, Georgia. He enjoys learning new instruments, playing flag football, and exercising (sometimes).
Nikki McGehee
First and Second Impressions Director
The McGehees moved to Charlestown July of 2020. She is passionate about creating welcoming environments and facilitating connections for our guests here at Christ Church. Outside of work and ministry Nikki enjoys meeting friends for coffee, gardening, being outdoors and reading.
